Media personality Thumbiko Gondwe, popularly known as Lady T, will represent Malawi at the inaugural continental reality show The African Mega Star in October in Ghana.

According to a statement from the organisers Trndi Afrique Media Networks and Elite Afrique, the show is a platform for Africans to shine and showcase their artistic skills in fashion, music, movies, writing, poetry and designing, among others.

Lady T: This is a great opportunity to learn

“The show is aimed at discovering and projecting African talents,” reads the statement in part.

The organisers say the winner will walk away with a car, endorsement deals, and prizes worth $10 000 (about K8.2 million).

In a separate interview, Lady T said she is looking forward to learn more about other countries’ cultures while showcasing Malawi’s way of life.

“To me this is a great opportunity to learn from other contestants’ talents and cultures,” she said.

Lady T said she has prepared to showcase local food cooking as well as dressing.

According to the organisers, this is a new show whose format is putting all contestants in one house, carry tasks and competitions every week where evictions will take place until a winner is indentified.

“The idea is to discover someone who is talented and embodies the African Magic,” reads the statement in part.

The reality show will be on DStv channel 190, GOtv channel 143, Spice TV and R2TV.

It has 30 contestants aged between 17 and 37.
