Tigers’ Chima leads scorers list

Azam Tigers striker Luke Chima has intensified his bid for the 2017 TNM Super League top goalscorer accolade.

He has now notched five goals ,overtaking Red Lions’ Innocent Bokosi and Masters Security forward Robin Ngalande who are still at three goals each.

Blantyre United’s Jide Mbandambanda has also joined the race after scoring a hat-trick in his side’s 3-3 draw against Tigers.

Wanderers (in orange) made it four wins in four matches

Silver Strikers’ Mathews Sibale and Michael Tethe have two goals each.

Fischer Kondowe, Bright Munthali and Collen Nkhulambe from Nyasa Big Bullets, Chimwemwe Chisambi (Kamuzu Barracks), Jack Chiona and Patrick Macheso from Dwangwa United, Victor Mpinganjira from Mafco, Sparrow Msowoya and Frankson Chisi from Blantyre United, Misheck Bottomani of PremierBet Wizards and Tigers’ Precious Phiri have also scored two goals each.

According to Sulom fixtures secretary Patrick Chisale, 97 goals have been scored in 47 games so far.

Lions lead the table with 12 points from six  games played while Wanderers have played four games with the same points, but they are separated on goal difference.

Chisale said: “Tigers are the highest scorers this far after netting 13 goals while Blantyre United have conceded most goals at 13. Lions, Wanderers and Silver are the only unbeaten sides thus far.

“Silver have conceded one goal, scoring five while the Nomads are yet to concede after netting six. Wanderers are also the only ones yet to play at home in our assignments.”

Wanderers team manager Steve Madeira said the Nomads’ campaign to win the first league title in 10 years is on track.

“We are grinding results. So far so good,” he said.
