Azam Tigers’ 4-0 mauling of Kamuzu Barracks took the Kau Kau from sixth to fifth on the TNM Super League ladder. Tigers coach Leo Mpulula described the development as fruits of his faith in the youth.

Tigers registered their fourth win in seven league games on Saturday through a double from former Bangwe All Stars teenager Isaac Kaliati, ex-Blue Eagles Reserves’ Asedi Ajasi and former Cobbe Barracks forward Moses Nankumba.

“Their combination with the senior guys is just very good. Our leading scorer is Maxwell Mwangongo (another youth) with four goals,” said Mpulula about the Tigers who have 13 points. Tigers recently off-loaded some experienced players.

The Kau Kau are a point behind fourth-placed Red Lions who extended their unbeaten run to six games after a 2-1 win over Kabwafu United. The Lions have 14 points, one point behind Civo United.

Civo have 15 points following their 2-1 victory over bottom placed Epac FC on Saturday. Martin Masoatheka scored twice to cancel out Mussa Manyenje’s lone reply. Epac are still bottom on five points.

League champions Silver Strikers defeated of Blue Eagles 1-0 to keep the Bankers two points behind leaders Mighty Wanderers who have 17 points from seven assignments.

The Nomads edged Mafco 1-0 on Saturday with Diverson Chilemba extending his tally to five league goals.

Eagles were pushed to second from the bottom on five points while Escom moved up to 13th position with six points after drawing 2-2 with Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday.
