A defeat would have been disastrous for Tigresses as they would have created a six-point gap against leaders and titleholders Escom Sisters, when the two sides face-off in the final match at BYC on Saturday.

The win has put them in pole position to fight for the crown. If they win the decisive match, they will tie on 63 points with the Sisters and they will wear the crown on aggregate.

A draw will allow Escom Sisters to cling to the league title for the fifth year running as they will have 64 points while Tigresses will finish on 61 points.

MTL Queens have finished third with 54 points.

Woget Stars and Glass Bank Sisters will battle for the fourth position in their last fixture this weekend. Stars have 45 points while Glass Bank Sisters have 42.

During their encounter against MTL Queens, Tigresses coach Charles Mhango admitted that they were complacent, given their easy victories in the last eight matches, each of which they won by a margin of over 100 baskets.
