Bingu Tigresses have aggravated Chilomoni Stars’ woes in the OG Issa Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) with a 108-15 thrashing at the Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC) on Saturday.

Stars, who have no sponsor, have finished the first round on 11th position in the 12-team league with six points.

“This has been a tough first round for us both financially and technically,” said Chilomoni Stars team manager Linda Chimgwede.

“We lack funds for transport to match venues. As a result, our game plan is always foiled as some of our key players fail to turn up for games. We will try our best to get back on track in the next round.”

This has also been a tough weekend for Rock Queens, who suffered a 64-28 defeat by Glass Bank Sisters. They also lost to Triggers 42-37 to remain eighth with 12 points.

MTL Queens have moved to second position with 24 points from nine games following their 95-10 win over Prison Sisters. Tigresses remain on top with 27 points from nine games whereas defending champions Escom Sisters are third with 21 points from seven games.

According to SRNL general secretary Annie Hanjahanja-Billie, all the first round games will wind-up next weekend.
