Mobile network service provider TNM on Friday cheered patients and distributed assorted items to Machinga and Ntcheu District hospitals as part of Christmas and New Year festivities.

At Machinga District Hospital, TNM employees visited the maternity ward where they distributed five mattresses, packets of sugar, 50 water buckets, packets of Likuni Phala, laundry and bath soaps and Orange Squash.

In Ntcheu, the staff visited the children’s ward and distributed laundry and bath soaps, Orange Squash, packets of sugar, 20 mattresses, blankets and packets of Likuni Phala.

TNM’s public relations and sponsorship manager Wilma Chalulu said the visit to hospitals is one of the company’s corporate social responsibilities.

“As TNM, we believe in sharing what we have with the people. In addition, our brand has a statement which says ‘always with you’. So, as we approach Christmas and New Year, some of the patients will not have time to celebrate with their families and relations; hence, our coming here.

Machinga District Hospital nursing officer Rose Kanyangalazi hailed TNM for the donation.

“What we would ask from TNM is to assist us in the communication system between our hospital and the surrounding health centres. We

used to depend on wireless message signals which stopped functioning sometime back,” she said.

On her part, Ntcheu principal nursing officer Sophie Chimwenje attributed most of the challenges to shortage of funding to the hospital.
