TNM donates 5 000 seedlings

TNM on Wednesday donated 5 000 seedlings worth K250 000 (about $694) to Chigumula Forestry Office in Blantyre.

Speaking at the function, TNM public relations and sponsorship manager Wilma Chalulu said her company supports the National Tree Planting Season.

“TNM is aware of the importance of protecting our environment. It is for this reason that we have donated these seedlings to the forestry office.

“We hope the seedlings will be taken care of and will grow into trees. This year, we want to plant trees in the regions of the country in support of the National Tree Planting Season,” said Chalulu.

Southern Region Forestry Office planning officer Gerald Kamanga said they chose Chigumula because it is a catchment area for Nazombe River.

“We thank TNM for the donation. This is a catchment area for Nazombe River and we felt it is important to protect its source,” said Kamanga.
