TNM MD Swart leaving Malawi
TNM plc managing director (MD) Willem Swart is leaving the firm on October 9 2015 after working for the listed telecommunications service provider for five years, Business News has learnt.
In an e-mail he circulated to TNM employees recently, Swart said he will be replaced by Douglas Stevenson, MD at Vodacom Business Africa in South Africa and will start work on October 1 2015.
He said: “He [Stevenson] has served as finance director in various companies, including Vodacom Tanzania and Vodacom Mozambique. He has the same passion as me for a high level of discipline and governance and should take the company to a new level of performance with his knowledge and experience in the mobile business, but also in business services all over Africa.”
Swart, who was also roped in from Vodacom SA, believes Stevenson will be a good leader to take TNM to a new level.
He said the new chief executive officer is expected to implement “significant changes to TNM and all the areas of the business”.
TNM is listed on the Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE).
