Nine games mark the start of the TNM Super League 2013/14 season this weekend with the whole fixture yet to be released as is a harmonised calendar.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda on Monday insisted that the synchronised calendar was on track as Sulom released the fixtures within the agreed dates.

“We already agreed on the dates of the competitions and we will review it after the first round,” said Nyirenda.

Super League of Malawi (Sulom) general secretary Williams Banda was not available to explain why all fixtures are not out.

The highlight of this weekend’s fixtures is a Lilongwe derby between holders Silver Strikers and hosts Civo United on Sunday. Playing grounds include Surestream Stadium in Blantyre, formerly MDC Stadium.

Leagues in Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe, among others, release and adhere to fixtures for the whole year in harmony with international games. The other countries’ fixtures can be sourced on www.supersport.com  and www.fifa.com .

Meanwhile, the second tier Peter Mutharika Southern Region Football League games for last season are yet to be completed due to a referees’ boycott over outstanding dues.

The Sulom general secretary told The Daily Times of Monday that they would proceed with the new season as Evirom sealed their Super League promotion.
