Malatino: We will consider having more stations in Mzuzu

Total Malawi Limited (LTD) has expressed satisfaction over results of facelift for service stations and has since launched the exercise for stations in the Northern Region.

Speaking during the launch of the facelift at Mzuzu High Way Service Station on Friday, Total Malawi LTD managing director Michel Malatino said, apart from new colours beautifying towns, dealers and customers find the new face environmental and business friendly.

He said the new face also addresses safety issues.

Malatino said Total is injecting millions of kwacha in the project to enable Malawians trade in a safe environment and also be able to access other products apart from fuel at the stations.

“For new state of the art service station it is costing about K800 million and upgrading the old ones is costing about K100 million,” he said.

Malatino also expressed satisfaction over its market in Mzuzu and said the company will consider having more stations including a state of the art service station.

Mzuzu City chief executive officer Thomas Chirwa commended Total for the new face saying it has added beauty to cities and towns.

He called on the company to ensure that its service matches the new brand to reflect the change.

“There is need to treat all customers the same despite their status. A customer should not be helped first because he has come in a posh car when someone in an old car was the first to arrive,” said Chirwa.

Total Malawi commercial manager Muwuso Kachali said workers at the service stations are encouraged to treat customers equally and smile at them. He said if customers find problems with the workers, they have to report them to authorities.
