Toyota Malawi on Monday donated K1 million to the Society of Accountants in Malawi (Socam) for its annual conference to be held at Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi.

Toyota Malawi general manager Andrew Katimba said the donation was part of the annual commitment the company has with the society.

“We are just responding to our partners. We commit annually for the conference because some of the accountants are my customers. During such gatherings, we display our products for the delegates,” said Katimba.

Receiving the donation, Socam chief executive officer Evelyn Mwapasa said with the donation, the society has a balance of K20 million (US$62,305) because it has sourced K13 million (US$40498) and some of the money would be from members.

“Currently, we have sourced K13 million and we have a balance of K20 million.

“The money we have received today will be for planning such as paying the facility providers,” said Mwapasa.

This year’s Socam conference will be held under the theme ‘Fast with economic glory’.
