Amid increased cases of vehicle thefts, Tracker Malawi, a subsidiary of Tracker Africa, has come onto the scene bringing “complete remote management” through fleet management and telematics solutions to both individuals and companies.

Tracker Malawi, according to its technical director Aslam Sabadia, will strive to create value for people and companies through filtering and processing of different strings of vehicle data and also providing meaningful information to motorists and insurance companies, among others.

“We want to provide solutions in terms of safety. We are not a tracking company per se, but we are a complete safety solution provider. We are affiliated to one of the biggest tracking companies on the continent,” Sabadia told Business News last week.

He said the system, which is real time and rolled out on August 1, will ensure auto-logging and checking driver behaviour with an auto-update of between 10 to 30 seconds.

Sabadia, who is also operations manager at City Motors Limited, said critical to the company’s operations will be a relationship that they will develop with the police, insurance industry, vehicle manufacturers, fitment centres and financial institutions.

He said all over Africa, the mother company which is the largest tracking company with over two million trackers fitted to vehicles throughout 30 countries, has helped to arrest thousands of criminals, saving hundreds of lives and preventing scores of future crimes from ever happening.

Tracker offers businesses and vehicle owners an extensive range of products and services to ensure safety and the most efficient use of vehicles as possible.

The firm offers services that include 24-hour online monitoring, historical driver reports, safe-driving notifications (speeding, harsh braking, no-go areas, safe zones ), navigation via live traffic conditions, a connected concierge service as well as the Tracker App and Assist button for general and emergency roadside events.

Businesses can also schedule and dispatch drivers via in-cab screens, said Sabadia.

He said its mother company has earned the respect of all major insurance companies, many of whom offer discounted premiums and excess waivers to customers whose vehicles are protected by tracker.

Sabadia said the company has invested a lot in capital and equipment to ensure smooth operation once it rolls out.

Tracker Malawi director of operations Richard Makondi said the system, which will be running for 24 hours, will create a number of jobs.

“The system will require us to have a call centre which means there will be need for people to work in those call centres 24 hours. This means jobs for them,” he said.

Tracker, according to the two officials, frequently exchanges intelligence with partners in crime-ravaged countries to ensure that their technology remains one step ahead of the world’s most sophisticated crime syndicates and similar relationship also exists with the International Police (Interpol).

In addition to its GSM and GPS networks, Tracker owns its own radio satellite recovery network.
