Two apply for agents’ examinations

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has said only two people applied to sit for the Fifa players agents regulation examinations yesterday at the Chiwembe Technical Centre in Blantyre.

FAM transfer matching system manager Casper Jangale confirmed yesterday about the low interest in the examinations.

Absence of agents is linked to Malawi’s low football exports to major football leagues.

Lawyers were encouraged to express interest and be exempted from the examinations, but as of yesterday, no lawyer had come forward, according to Jangale.

“We administer the examinations as per demand twice a year in April and September,” he said.

The questions include 15 from Fifa that relate to international regulations and five from FAM about local football.

Successful candidates are required to buy an insurance cover worth $100 000 (US$246) before being issued a licence.

It is this pre-condition that has prevented other agents designate such as Owen Malijani, Tendai Kanjoma and Kondie Msungama from acquiring the licences.

Felix Ngamanyo-Sapao also passed the examinations and claims to have acquired the insurance cover, but his name does not appear on the list of certified agents on Fifa’s website.
