Two candidates on Tuesday presented their nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) in Ngala Ward, Lilongwe Msozi North Constituency.
The two are Master Chazama of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Regina Sululu of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
Speaking in an interview after presenting his papers, Chazama said he wants to assist the communities to develop Ngala Ward which is under-developed. He also pledged to conduct an issue-based campaign.
MCP Central Region director of elections Richard Chimwendo, who escorted Chazama, said the party made sure that they chose someone from within the community who is a farmer.
On her part, Sululu also promised development if voted councillor.
The by-elections in the ward, scheduled for December 22, follow the resignation of Misheck Khomba on September 8 this year for doubling as a teacher and a councillor. n
