Two die in Dedza road accident

Two people died in a road accident on Friday when a vehicle they were travelling in, Toyota Lorry registration number 019MG 520, overturned after a rear tyre of the vehicle towing it burst along the M1 road in Dedza.

Dedza Police Public Relations Officer Edward Kabango said the rear tyre for Fuso Fighter registration number RU 2700, burst while descending Dedza hills, two kilometres from the boma.accident

He identified the two as 33 year old Nelio Bennito (driver) and Joseph Salimoni, 39.

“The driver of the Toyota Lorry, Nelio Bennito lost control of the vehicle and it overturned several times. Bennito and Salimoni died on the spot due to severe head injuries,” he said.

Driver of the Fuso Fighter, Michael Thoya escaped the accident unhurt, according to Kabango.

Bennito hailed from Donga village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Mpando in Ntcheu, while Samimoni came from Moya village in the area of T/A Msakambewa in Dowa.
