United Democratic Front (UDF) has appointed Yusuf Mwawa as the party’s acting National Publicity Secretary. This follows the arrest of Ken Ndanga.
Ndanga is answering murder charges in connection with the torching of UTM offices in area 24 in Lilongwe which led to the death of three members of the Tambala family.
In a memo which Nation Online has seen, the party’s secretary general Kandi Padambo said the appointment which has been approved by UDF president Atupele Muluzi is with immediate effect.
“This follows the regrettable circumstances involving the arrest and subsequent charging of Ken Ndanga,” reads the statement in part.
Padambo further said Mwawa who is substantively the party’s National Director of Research will exercise the duties and responsibilities of the office of National Publicity Secretary until the judicial conclusion of the matter in which Ndanga is suspected to have been involved.
