Umodzi Park sales and marketing manager Temwa Kanjedza said the business precinct, which includes the Walmont President Hotel, the Bingu Wa Mutharika International Convention Centre (Bicc) and the Presidential Villas, is joining the race as a hospitality partner.

She said: “Umodzi Park is joining the race as a partner but we will be sending a team that has been training towards the main event for the June 9. We are providing accommodation at a special rate of K73 000 per night in the five-star Walmont President Hotel for the event. We will also be providing early morning breakfast packs for the 300 Be More Race volunteers.”

She said Umodzi acknowledges the importance of the race in healthy living lifestyle for the country; hence the partnership.

“Umodzi Park as a corporate entity is conscious of a healthy living lifestyle for its team and the community at large. The Be More Race appeals to the needs and aspirations for our team to be fit and healthy. Furthermore, Standard Bank remains one of our leading business partners.

“It was incumbent upon us to partner with Standard Bank for the Be More Race as we share a mutual goal for a healthy and fit community. The partnership also allows us to contribute and promote a healthy lifestyle,” said Kanjedza.

She said Umodzi Park is geared to host the race at the Bicc and encouraged Malawians to register for the race.

Standard Bank head of marketing and communications Thoko Unyolo said all preparations for the second edition of  the race are set.

The first edition of  Be More Race was held last year. This year, the bank held city races in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu in preparation for the main race.
