Umodzi Youth builds school

Listen to this article

The Umodzi Youth Organisation on Friday handed over a K4.2 million school block to Sonzowa Primary School in Blantyre Rural. Speaking during the handover ceremony, the organisation’s executive director Yusuf Matenje said the two classrooms will ease learning at the school in T/A Chigaru’s area. “The school was a shack. When it rained, classes would be disrupted. We are happy pupils will now enjoy the right to education in peace,” said Matenje. He said they got funding from the Australian Embassy, Joyce Banda Foundation and mobile phone operator TNM. According to Lirangwe zone primary education adviser Rhoda Makiti, the new block has changed the face of the school.—Kondwani Kamiyala, Staff Writer
