UNC Project win Corporate Social Volleyball Tourney

Univerisity of North Carolina (UNC) Project Socials on Saturday emerged winners of the Corporate Social Volleyball Tournament at National Police Headquarters in Lilongwe.

The tournament was organised by Mipuniro Spikers to raise funds for Nation Publications Limited’s (NPL) 2018 Mothers’ Fun Run.

NPL and its partners seek to raise K150 million towards improving martenal health in Ntchisi District.

Standard Bank Socials taking on Blue Eagles Socials

This year’s Mothers’ Fun Run event will be held on October 13 in Ntchisi.

To emerge champions, UNC Project beat Standard Bank Socials, Blue Eagles and Contine Investments 2-0, 3-0 and 2-1, respectively to finish top.

As champions, they received a trophy and gold medals while Contine Investments received silver medals for finishing second.

Blue Eagles finished third while Standard Bank Socials finished fourth. They both received participation certificates.

Mipuniro Spikers chairperson Adam Benesi thanked the teams for taking part in the tournament.

NPL marketing manager Albert Banda hailed Mipuniro Spikers for providing a helping hand.

“As NPL, we would like to thank you for your efforts. Among the sporting disciplines, you are the first to fundraise for the cause and that is not a mean achievement.

“We don’t look at the money that you are raising. We look at the initiative and the effort that is behind all this. As a media house, let me assure you that we will support you in all your future initiatives, let’s touch base and work together,” he said.

Volleyball Association of Malawi (VAM) treasurer Florence Nthakomwa, who was guest of honour, hailed Mipuniro for the competition, saying it made to the volleyball family proud. n
