Uncertainty surrounds Davido show

Uncertainty hovers around the coming of Nigerian superstar Davido to Malawi for the launch of the Go Green concert.

Davido was initially scheduled to arrive in Malawi on December 4, ahead of the concert to launch the Go Green initiative aimed at protecting the country’s forest cover, health of users and the environment.

Energy conservation initiatives such as the use of energy saving bulbs and public awareness campaigns on effective use of electricity will be key elements of the campaign.

However, there is likelihood that the show’s dates might be changed or cancelled altogether.

“We wanted to have the first lady Madame Gertrude Mutharika as the guest of honour at the concert. However, the launch has clashed with a state function at Kamuzu Palace on Friday as well, meaning, the first lady cannot be at two events on the same night.  We are therefore, discussing with Davido’s manager to see whether to shift it to Sunday or postpone to a later date. We should have a clear position by close of business today,” said ministry of energy, mines and natural resource lead consultant Stephen Otieno.

Davido was billed to perform alongside a couple of Malawian artists including The Black Missionaries and Lucius Banda at Civo stadium.
