Undule eyeing Parliament?

With just two years before Malawians go to the polls, battle lines seem to have been drawn in Karonga North West Constituency with some constituents endorsing Human Rights Consultative Committee board chairperson Undule Mwakasungula as their preferred candidate. During the official installation of Paramount Chief Kyungu Nsangalufu Clement Mwakabanga III at Kasoba Primary School grounds in Karonga by President Joyce Banda on Saturday, some Alliance for Democracy (Aford) youth carried a banner (in the picture) with the inscription ‘Undule Mwakasungula is our representative in Parliament in 2014 Karonga North West’.

But Mwakasungula, in an interview on Sunday, distanced himself from the unofficial campaign saying he was equally surprised with the development.—FREDERICK NDALA JNR, Staff Writer
