Speaking after handing over the items, Unicaf University marketing officer Rhoda Kauka said the donation has come to celebrate with mothers in need.

“Most mothers are in hospitals sick or guardians and are unable to celebrate this day. So as university, we chose to celebrate with them of this special day and tell them that we have not forgotten them,” she said.

In her remark, one of patient Linda Masanjala thanked Unicaf University for the gesture, saying most people in hospitals are in need of basic items.

“There are so many companies and organisations around Blantyre, but Unicaf took this initiative to cherish the mothers. Some patients come without laundry and bathing soap, lotion, sugar and other needs. This donation will help to ease the challenges we face,” she said.
