Unicaf University has donated K999 999 towards this year’s Nation Publications Limited (NPL) Mother’s Fun Run, an initiative that mobilises resources to support safe motherhood.

Speaking yesterday during the symbolic presentation of the cheque, Unicaf rector Joseph Kuthemba-Mwale said the well-being of mothers is at the heart of the university since they are the ones who send children to school.

“Our interest is educating the masses by all means necessary. Therefore, we see that if we contribute towards good maternal health, we are also going to contribute towards good health of the youth who, at some point will be fit to acquire education at our university so this donation is not misdirected,” he said.

In his remarks, NPL marketing manager Albert Banda said this year’s fundraising initiative is gathering momentum as the fun run day is approaching on October 7.

He thanked Unicaf for partnering NPL to help mothers in the country.
