Under-20 national team coach Meke Mwase has said his team did not have an ounce of luck against Swaziland in Saturday’s 2019 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations’ preliminary round first leg.

The Junior Flames were held to a frustrating goalless draw at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Mwase said they would go back to the drawing board as they resume preparations for the second leg today.

“I believe we did not have luck, otherwise my boys tried all they could.

“We created a number of chances, but unfortunately we couldn’t score. It’s part of the game,” he said.

Mwase said his charges were under pressure to score.

“But anything can happen in football and we are hoping that we can come back with a positive result from Swaziland [in the second leg].”

His Swaziland counterpart Dumisani Mkakhanya said he was contented with the result.

“We expected that Malawi would start at full throttle in search of an early goal and we had planned to frustrate them.

“The plan was to close them down and never allow them space to knock the ball around. A draw away is a good result for me and now we can plan for the return match,” he said. n
