Piksy apr11 | The Nation OnlineAfter two years in hibernation, Nde’feyo Entertainment has hinted of the return on the Urban Music Party (UMP) in July this year.

Confirming the news, Nde’feyo’s communications manager Hastings Kimpho Loka said the comeback show would be staged in Blantyre.

Loka further said a number of activities have been lined up to raise the bill and swag for the return version of UMP.

“Prior to the main festival, there will be activities in the major cities of the country, including UMP Malawi music nights where DJ’s will be playing strictly Malawian urban music coupled with live performances by top local urban musicians,” he revealed.

The UMP was hatched in 2009 to a platform to celebrate and promote Malawian urban arts and culture thereby contributing to the country’s socioeconomic growth by involving performances by various Malawian celebrated urban artists as well as up-and-coming ones, UMP Top Model, games and competitions of various forms, among others.

Meanwhile, Nde’feyo says plans are underway to turn the initiative into a trust.

“UMP’s vision is to become a leading festival in urban arts event initiative Malawi, with the mission to celebrate and promote Malawian arts and culture contributing to the country’s socioeconomic growth,” said Loka.
