The festival is set to return on November 8 at BAT ground in Blantyre, according to organisers, Nde’feyo Entertainment.

“Being a celebration of the urban music culture, we have lined up a number of exciting activities and as per tradition, the main focus is performances by local urban music artists. We’re still working on the bookings and contracts and by end of next week the artists will be announced.

“However, we have completed the booking of guest artist Chimzy Kelly of the Mwanakazi ndi Kumbuyo and Dorica fame from Zambia. He’s the international act to perform at the festival,” said the event’s publicist Kimpho Loka.

In addition, there will be dancing and freestyle competition as well as awards.

“We can’t do UMP without incorporating awards. We will have the Song of the Year and Video of the Year awards plus a Lifetime Achiever. So far those are the awards on the menu, but there might be a possibility that two or three might be added as we go. We also have dance and freestyle competitions lined up and contenders will have to register starting from next week.

“UMP has always been unique being the only event that focuses on celebrating the urban music and culture, so yes this year it’s coming back bigger and better with a lot of exciting activities in the box,” he explained.
