US celebrated Christian rapper Da’ T.R.U.T.H. will next month perform in Malawi, The Nation has learnt.

This comes almost six years after Ron Kenoly, US praise and worship leader performed in Malawi.

Born Emanuel Lee Lambert Jnr, the rapper is on an African tour and is scheduled to hold a live concert at College of Medicine Sports Complex in Blantyre on February 17. During his tour, he will also perform in Lagos and Abuja in Nigeria, Harare in Zimbabwe and Bloemfontein in South Africa.

LusayoMhango of Imago Dea (ID), an event management company, organiser of the Malawi concert, confirmed that the celebrated Grammy nominee would be visiting the country.

“He is on an African Tour and Malawi is blessed to host him. The artist will arrive in the country on the same date of the performance. We hope to use this event to continue treating Malawians with top quality music events that impact their lives in more than just entertainment,” said Mhango.

This is the third time ID has brought an international Christian hip-hop artist.

“In January 2011 we had Flame, a Grammy Award nominee, who performed at Comesa Hall in Blantyre. In November 2011, we had Lecrae, currently the biggest selling Christian hip-hop artist in the US, with multiple Grammy nominations.

“Also we had Trip Lee, Tedashii, Andy Mineo, and KB, all from Reach Records. So we are continuing with our journey of bringing international artists. In fact, in 2013 we are broadening our horizon by bringing artists who do different genres,” explained Mhango.

He brushed aside assertions that Da’ T.R.U.T.H is not popular in the country therefore not many people will patronise the show.

“The two shows we held in Lilongwe and Blantyre were jam packed. And therefore, it is subjective to say some artists in this case Da’ T.R.U.T.H are not known in the country. We are sure of a large turnout,” said Mhango.

A line up of local artists to share the stage with the US artist has not been released.
