Since September 1 last year, Nanzikambe Arts Theatre has been producing an interactive radio episode titled Ndife Tomwe which aims at reducing voter apathy for Malawi’s first ever tripartite elections scheduled for May.

The radio programme is aimed at enhancing active political participation, and advocating for peaceful acceptance of elections results among political party leaders and supporters.

The interactive segment is giving women a platform to air out their concerns regarding democracy.

During a live recording in Blantyre, Nanzikambe actress Flora Suya encouraged her fellow women to actively engage in democratic processes such as taking part in the forth-coming tripartite election

“As women, we should not lag behind. We have a big role to play in matters that concern our lives. We should participate in the elections, either by vying for the positions of Member of Parliament and councillor or just by merely taking part in the voting.”

Nanzikambe’s programme manager Misheck Mzumara said they have had 20 interactive radio episodes and are now at the end of the programme.
