Capital City giants Silver Strikers FC have said they will be cautious when meeting Red Lions on Sunday in the last 16 of the Carlsberg Cup match scheduled for Zomba Community Centre ground.

The Bankers’ team manager Sibusiso Padambo said in an interview on Wednesday that his team is aware of the threat their opponents could pose at their backyard.

“Actually, we have not had any special preparations for this game, but we are looking forward to win. We also understand the fact that Red Lions are a good side having beaten us on two previous occasions. The good thing with our side is that anybody can score goals,” said Padambo.

On the other hand, Red Lions coach Collins Nkuna said was happy with the reopening of Zomba Community Centre ground.

“I am happy that this game is at our home ground. I urge all our supporters to come and watch their beloved team, which they missed for some time. We will have an offensive approach since this is a knockout competition. With the return of Dave Banda, we now have a full squad in place,” said Nkuna.

However, both sides will miss the services of their key players due to red card suspension. The Bankers will miss defending midfielder Clement Mvula whereas the soldiers will not have their centre-back Benesi Kaisi.

But Padambo said his side has ready replacement for Mvula with lethal-footed Rodrick Gonani and Ndaziona Chatsalira expected to lead the onslaught.

The Zomba-based soldiers will rely on the services of Bonface Kaulesi and Kumbukani Mwambene upfront with their safest pair of hands of Lifleck Clement Mlomba in goals.

Meanwhile, Chipiku League outfit, Blue Eagles Youth have warned Super Eagles that they should anticipate sweating blood when the two teams at Nankhaka ground on Sunday.

The Mzuzu-based team beat Big Bullets 2-1 in Mzuzu fortnight ago whereas Blue Eagles Youth stunned Silver Reserves 2-1.

Blue Eagles Youth coach Wilson Chidati said they are aware of what the Super Eagles are capable of doing.

“But if they want to sail through, then they should be prepared to sweat blood,” said Chidati.

Super Eagles coach Christopher Nyambose has described the fixture as tricky.

“It is a tricky fixture for us because we are playing against a team we do not know. They will be at home, which will give them an advantage. But we are set to take them by the horns,” said Nyambose

In another fixture, Epac will entertain Civo in Lilongwe derby.
