“Join me in congratulating the Vice-President for accepting this task. On behalf of the organising committee and indeed on my own behalf, I would like to thank you all Ulayaclassic family for supporting this initiative. Wherever you are please give yourself a pat on the back. Exercising is not an easy task and join us in celebrating every minute/ hour that you spend exercising,” he said.

Meanwhile, pre-selling of tickets to the event has started at K20 000 VIP and K10 000 standard.

Fifty-five body builders have registered for the inaugural bodybuilding tournament following the prejudging exercise carried out between July and August.

The exercise was aimed at examining the body-builders to see how fit they are and determine how best they can improve between then and September 17.

According to Ulaya, the body-builders were put under special training in preparation for the tournament.

“Ulayaclassic also has a challenge element in which prominent individuals are dared to lead by example in exercising,” he said.

Ulaya said the element is aimed at using  prominent people as role models to encourage the general public to exercise.

Others that also took up the challenge include Speaker of Parliament Richard Msowoya.
