The Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Association of Malawi (Wabm) will hold its long-awaited elective general assembly on Saturday at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.Initially, the elections were supposed to be held in February, but were postponed because of logistical problems.

According to Wabm president Richard Kuwali, Sports Council has already given them the go ahead to conduct the elections.

“They have even given us our subvention to assist us in organising the general assembly. We are happy to announce that the elections are on and we are encouraging those who want to vie for any position to contact our secretariat in Blantyre,” said Kuwali.

He said all positions, including the presidency, are up for grabs.

Kuwali has since appealed to all aspirants to submit their names to the association’s general secretary, Harold Mwanayanga.

“This is one of the most glamorous body builders tournaments in the country. We appeal to bodybuilders from across the country to prepare well for the tournament,” said Kuwali.

The elections have coincided with the Mr. Malawi Pageant, which will take place at the same venue on the same day.
