Both Epac vice-general secretary Chiyamiko Litta and Wanderers general secretary Mike Butao confirmed the transfer fee on Monday.

“They paid the whole amount last Friday and I can confirm that we have already issued his clearance,” said Litta.

“He [Kabango] is a good defender with a bright future ahead of him and had a running two-year contact with us, but his heart was at Wanderers and we could not block him from moving.”

On his part, Butao said the player will fit in well at the Lali Lubani Road outfit.

“He is a good up-and-coming defender and we expect him to add value. He is young and talented, meaning that he has the potential to play for us for a long time,” said Butao.

However, Sulom general secretary Williams Banda said on Monday they had not received any official communication on the transfer issue.

Initially, Wanderers offered Epac K1.5 million plus two players—Khumbo Ng’ambi and Peter Mselema—in exchange for Kabango, but Epac rejected the offer.

Epac has also sold defender Dalitso Mwase to Silver Strikers for K1.5 Million and released Davie Moya, who was on loan, back to the Bankers.

They have also signed defender Willard Dickson formerly of Dedza Young Soccer as well as Frank Kavalo in a bid to beef up their squad.
