Be Forward Wanderers yesterday summoned their technical panel over the team’s poor performance in Dwangwa Nkhotakota where they collected a single point from a possible six.

The Nomads lost 2-1 to Mafco FC on Saturday before being held to a goalless draw by Dwangwa United 24 hours later.

Nomads vice-chairperson Gift Mkandawire said the team’s performance was unacceptable.

“We will call them today [Monday] to explain why the team’s performance was dismal in the two games,” he said. “It’s unacceptable to collect a single point from  six if we are to challenge for the championship.”

On Saturday the Nomads were at their worst as they were trailing 2-0 by the half hour mark.

They conceded just two minutes into the game and let in another goal in the 20th minute.

Although Joseph Kamwendo pulled one back, efforts to salvage a point proved futile in the second half as Mafco completed back-to-back league victories over the Carlsberg Cup champions.

On Sunday the Nomads failed to score against relegation-battling Dwangwa United, who frustrated their every effort.

The Nomads are on position eight with 29 points from 19 games, eight shy of league leaders Mafco.

Team manager Stevie Madeira blamed the dismal performance on the style of play employed by their opponents.

“In both games, it is like the two teams did not to come to play football. It’s only us who played football. They just wanted to frustrate us,” he said.

Ironically, Medeira’s sentiments were also shared by Azam Tigers, who also accused Red Lions of using the same tactics in the game they lost 1-0 at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.

“We failed to play our passing game because our opponents were very rough. They used long balls and it was a very boring game. It is unfortunate that teams are playing such type of football,”  said Azam coach Gerald Phiri.

Mzuzu University, who lost their away matches against Silver Strikers on Saturday and Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday, also had excuses.

Coach Alex Ngwira blamed the two losses on poor officiation. n
