Be Forward Wanderers supporters have petitioned the Board of Trustees to urgently announce the date for the executive committee elections following the expiry of the current leadership’s tenure.

Signed by chairpersons of the club’s 17 Blantyre-based zonal supporters’ sub-committees, the petition calls for early elections so that the new leadership is given time to prepare for next season.

It partly reads: “We wish to urge the trustees, Sulom and the  (outgoing) executive committee to urgently inform us of the date of the executive committee elections. (This follows) our agreement that the elections will be held at the end of the season.”

In November last year, the supporters sacked the George Chamangwana-led executive committee and appointed the club’s former secretary general Chipiliro Mpinganjira as interim chairperson.

It followed a string of poor results which all but condemned the Lali Lubani outfit’s chances of winning the Super League title for the first time in 10 years.

It took the intervention of Sulom and the club’s trustees to unite the crumbling Nomads’ family and for the ousted executive committee to be reinstated.

Meanwhile, Wanderers’ board of trustees secretary Patrick Jumbe said he had not seen the petition, but stated that preparations are underway for the polls.

“We want the executive to compile financial reports which will be presented at the annual general meeting. Once they are ready we shall announce the dates,” he said.

Meanwhile, the petition which has also been signed by former supporters chairperson Yona Malunga calls for supporters committee elections to be held on 17 January, 2016.

“The elections are in line with the constitution that elections will be held after every two seasons,” it further reads.

The elections will be held at BAT ground in Blantyre, the petition which has been copied to Football Association of Malawi and Sulom, among other institutions, reads.
