TNM Super League giants Be Forward Wanderers and Southern Region Select are expected to battle it out in a fundraising game for Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on April 6.

Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) vice-general secretary Kingsley Simbeye yesterday said they have organised the match in conjunction with their sponsors Rab Processors to raise funds for some of the association’s operations in the forthcoming 2019 ThumbsUp SRFA League.

“There are some areas in our operations in the next season that need additional funding and we believe the fundraising match will be the right platform for that,” he said.

Wanderers general secretary Mike Butao yesterday confirmed his team’s involvement in the initiative, saying it will help the Fisd Challenge Cup winners prepare for the new season.

“We will play this match at least a week before the new season kicks-off and we believe it will provide us a different challenge as compared to what we could get from playing against fellow Super League teams.

SRFA secured a K14 million year-long sponsorship from Rab Group of Companies a few weeks ago through the ThumbsUp carbonated soft drink brand.
