Sports gear company O Art & Craft has roped Malawi Netball Queens deputy coach Mary Waya into a campaign to promote regalia branded in national colours during international sporting events.

The company’s director Owen Chiwele said they involved the legendary former netballer in the campaign after noting that most Malawians disregard the importance of promoting the country’s identity during international events through paraphernalia that show national colours such as flags, T-shirts, caps and scarves.

“It is absurd that sometimes, as Malawians, we tend to ignore the importance of being proud of our nation by not putting on attire with national colours during international competitions,” Chiwele said.

“We have trust in Waya that she will be able to instill this culture in sports lovers in the country through awareness campaigns.”

On her part, Waya said she is happy that the company, which operates opposite FMB head office in Blantyre, has recognised her capabilities of raising awareness about the campaign.
