Weekend of golden oldies with Six Solid Band

Six Solid Band on Saturday treated Lilongwe fans to a passionate open-air live session, capitalising on fan’s hunger for entertainment amidst gathering restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Performing at Matchansi, the Lilongwe-based band dished out some memorable oldies crafted in all genres to the amazement of the fans that continuously jumped and screamed in satisfaction.

Six Solid Band in action

The band through their leader and lead vocalist Henry Matatiyo rolled out famous Bob Marley and Lucky Dube reggae tunes as well as local reggae from Black Missionaries Band.

Six Solid Band also performed some of their own compositions like Sindidzalora, Hend and Alpha and Omega.

Matatiyo throughout the performance, periodically reminded fans on preventive measures of Covid-19 such as social distancing, hand washing, and wearing face masks.

He said most people are going through tough times due to Covid-19; hence, requiring to share lighter moments.

The band is famous for their impressive stage performances and has backed notable artists such as Nepman, Symon and Kendall, Dan Muyaya, and Haxi Mumba at both local and international engagements.

In his remarks, businessperson and music promoter Robert Thomasi, who invited the band, said the show was part of community appreciation, mostly those who patronise their joint.

Thomasi has since committed to continue promoting local talent by offering conducive platforms for such artists to showcase their talent.

A fan, Mwandizonda Famiyosi, described the seven-hour music marathon as amazing and thrilling. During the 2020 Hangout Music Festival, Six Solid Band wowed patrons with their impressive performance at Sunbird Livingstonia in Salima.
