Well done neba!

Be Forward Wanderers have congratulated their age-old rivals Nyasa Big Bullets on winning the 2018 TNM Super League title.

The People’s Team sealed the top-flight league title with a 0-3 victory over Red Lions at Balaka Stadium on Saturday to place the champagne on ice.
Bullets have wrestled the championship from Wanderers who won it last year, but the Nomads were modest enough to swallow their pride and congratulate Neba.

Part of the statement from the Lali Lubani Road side signed by general secretary Mike Butao reads: “Congratulations to Bullets for winning the league. We fell short at the beginning of the season and, in the end, we couldn’t defend the title.

“Bullets were more consistent from the beginning to the end; hence, they deserved the title. We have learnt our lessons and we will be back stronger next season.”

And asked how it feels to lose the title to Neba, Butao said: “Not nice obviously. We won the league after a very long time and at the beginning of the season we were probably still celebrating the win instead of strategising on how to defend it.

“These are lessons that we will take into next season. What we need now is a proper rest before the next season starts as the boys hardly rested due to the CAF Champions League games in February. Thereafter, we will be good to go.”
Bullets chief executive officer Fleetwood Haiya thanked the Nomads for the recognition.

“We are in receipt of the congratulatory message from Wanderers as well as other teams and that should be the spirit.

“Despite us dethroning them as champions, they have demonstrated professionalism and the spirit of sportmanship and we do not take it for granted,” he said.

Such was the luxury for the People’s Team as it won the title with two games to spare against Silver Strikers and Civil Sporting Club.

Bullets have 67 points, five above Wanderers who have a game before they wind up the league against TN Stars.

As a consolation, the Nomads sealed a second-place finish with an emphatic 7-2 victory over Moyale Barracks.
Bullets last won the league title in 2016. n
