Support Agnes Foundation has handed over a house worth K1 million to Agnes Magombo, an orphan who looks after a 72-year-old grandmother Margaret Magombo and five other siblings in Traditional Authority Mwase in Kasungu.

The group was formed out of a WhatsApp forum to support the 10-year-old girl.

Speaking during the handover on Tuesday, the group’s team leader Richard Maliwu said the donation was in response to some of the challenges facing the family.

The house donated to Agnes

“People contributed resources to construct a better house for the family,” he said.

The grandmother thanked the group for the initiative, saying the house will offer them security.

“We also used to spend sleepless nights during the rainy season due to leakages,” she said.

On his part, Chief Mwase asked other well-wishers to emulate the example set by the group.

He said: “Helping is a rule of nature. The WhatsApp group has demonstrated how people should help one another.

“The members are young, but mobilised resources to help these needy souls.”

On August 28 2020,  the team met Agnes selling water in Kasungu Town and followed her home to appreciate her challenges.
