The longest weekend of the year is back. It is Easter when Christians commemorate the crucification and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Fun lovers take advantage of the four-day weekend to make merry and relax. So, where do you go this year?

Sound and Light Mega Concert at BAT

Entertainers Promotions manager Tonderai Jai Banda said all is set to bring the best experience and live performances at the Easter mega gospel concert slated for Saturday at BAT Ground in Blantyre. Dubbed Sound and Light Easter Gospel Concert, the event will start from 10 am until dawn and attracts charges of K2 000 per head.  

Performers at the event will include The Great Angels Choir, Gwamba, Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Ndirande Anglican Voices, Thocco Katimba, Billy Kaunda, Skeffa Chimoto, Evance Watsopano Mereka, Favoured Martha and Limbani Simenti.

Lulu dates Cockpit on Easter Sunday

Multi-talented artist Lawrence Khwisa alias Lulu becomes a new addition to Lilongwe-based Cockpit Lounge’s menu this Sunday as he will hold a live concert at the lounge.

 Branded Cockpit Easter Sunday, the concert will start at 7pm and will run until midnight with patrons expected to pay K3 000 per head.

 Lulu said he is set for the show in Lilongwe.

“We have added new members to our group. We promise to give the audience the best,” he said.

 

Mchinji Easter Celebration at Joe’s Motel

With K1 000 only, people  will  commemorate the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ through live gospel music at Joe’s Motel in the border district of Mchinji on Sunday.

Gospel musicians have teamed up to organise the Mchinji Easter Celebration, which will start from 11am.

Alex Nkalo, one of the organisers, said Favoured Martha, Miracle Chinga, Ronald Thamakera, Steve Spesho, Maxwell Olloto Lyton Nandolo, Levison Masamba, Clinton Esau and Farai Chazima will perform at the event.

 

Easter Gospel Bash at Robin’s Park

Kezala Events Managers have organised the Easter Gospel Bash at Robin’s Park in Blantyre on Sunday.

The bash will feature live performances from musicians such as Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Thocco Katimba. Thoko Suya, Evance Watsopano Mereka, Limbani Simenti and Neligo Women’s Choir, among others.

 Kezala Events Managers chairperson Lameck Ntoza said the Easter Gospel Bash is a suitable breather for families.

Wailing Brothers Easter tour

The Wailing Brothers will from Easter Friday embark on a tour starting with Dwangwa in Nkhotakota . On Saturday, the Band will be in Karonga before completing their tour on Easter Sunday in Mzuzu.

The Wailing Brothers will perform alongside Lulu and his Mathumela Band in the first two shows. The Wailing Brothers will be accompanied by Toza Matafale plus  Arnold and Moda Fumulani with Kennedy Nkombezi manning the decks.
