Kips White and OG Plastic Blue will face-off in the finals of Inter-Club 20-overs Cricket Tournament on August 30 at Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) following their outstanding display in the semi-finals at Oriental Cricket Club (OCC) on Sunday.

White were the first to secure the finals slot after seeing off Right Price Purple in the morning. Purple batted first to make 170 runs in 20-overs, but White chased down the score in just 17-overs.

Wasim Lusaka made an individual contribution of 34 runs for Purple, but his effort was not good enough to save his side from the saber-rattling White outfit that came with all guns blazing in the second innings, where Ahsam Jonty and Majid Khan made 65 and 55 runs respectively.

In the afternoon, Blue trampled upon former perennial champions MSC Orange. Orange made a total of 118 runs in the entire 20-overs and it appeared as if they were on their way to secure glory, yet Purple players lifted themselves up and launched a daring counter-attack that saw them making the runs in 18.2-overs.

Blue’s pace-men Muzmil Patel and his brother Mohsin led the onslaught with individual input of 23 and 15 runs apiece. Of course, Orange’s Soyeb Patel emerged as the best scorer of the match with 34 runs but that did not make a significant impact on his team’s hunt for victory.

“We experienced entertaining cricket action last weekend. The semi-finalists gave their all to secure the two slots in the finals,” said the competition’s organising chairperson Saeed Limdawala.
