MSC White eclipsed MSC Gold Fattani with a 180-113 triumph in the opener for the 2013 National Bank of Malawi (NBM) 25-Overs Cricket Tournament at the Indian Sports Club (ISC) on Sunday.

It was an unlucky day for MSC Fattani Gold who completed their innings in 19.1 overs against White’s 24.2 overs. The game gave Fattani Gold food for thought to improve their catches in their next game this weekend against MSC Green at ISC.

With a flat pitch and constant sunshine making perfect batting conditions, White’s captain Kamarat Chaudry and Imran Khan took advantage of Gold’s naivety on the ball to make 31 runs each for their team.

“Although we admit that our opponents are a very strong team, I would say our bowling was poor and we could not confidently catch the ball. We have learnt a lesson and we are going to improve on these two areas as we get to our next match,” lamented MSC Gold captain Sohel Manjra.

Meanwhile, MSC White are on top of the six-team Group A on aggregate while MSC Blue, who beat MSC Green 114-113 runs in just 19.5 overs at the Oriental Cricket Club (OCC), are second. ISC used home-ground advantage to see off MSC Grey 149-148 in 24.4 overs to claim the third slot.

Defending champions MSC Orange lead Group B after thrashing Cricket Academy 1 (CA1) by 27 runs at St Andrews International High School. They made 192 runs in 24.3 overs while CA-1 made 165 runs in the entire 25 overs.

MSC Silver have taken the second position following their triumph over hosts OCC. They made 98 runs in just 14.5 overs against OCC’s 97 runs in 23.1 overs. MSC White players celebrate their victory.
