PremierBet Wizards’ season just got from bad to worse following a 1-0 loss to Mafco at Chilomoni Stadium yesterday.

Emmanuel Chipeta’s first-half strike helped the soldiers collect maximum points, a day after a disappointing 2-0 loss to Be Forward Wanderers at Balaka Stadium.

Time to make decisions: Mponda

Mafco coach Temwa Msuku, who blamed the team’s Saturday loss to Wanderers on poor officiation, was relieved to return to Salima with three points.

The soldiers are now on position seven with 28 points from 19 games.

It was a sixth consecutive loss for Wizards which has left them on position 13 with 19 points.

Wizard technical director Peter Mponda said it was time to make decison to avoid relegation.

“It is not just happening for us,” he said.

Wizards are just above relegation because of a better goal difference with five wins, four draws and 11 losses.

But they risk slipping in the danger zone as Dwangwa United, who also have 19 points, are piling pressure on them.

Dwangwa almost ended Silver Strikers’s unbeaten record yesterday. The bankers had to come from behind to force a one-all draw as Mathews Sibale’s late goal canclled Jack Chiona’s early strike. n
