Be Forward Wanderers have pulled a fast one to sign two Wizards players—defender Rafiq Namwera and midfielder Ernest Tambe—who were also being sought by Silver Strikers.

The Nomads’ general secretary Mike Butao yesterday confirmed that the two players each signed three-year contracts on Monday.

“We sought permission from the owners to speak to the players and we reached an agreement on their personal terms. What is left now is to finalise the transfer deals with their club,” said Butao.

However, Wizards owner and technical director Peter Mponda said they only gave consent on Tambe as there was still an issue to sort out with Namwera’s previous club Chitawira Rangers.

“Tambe’s deal is almost done, but as for Namwera, it is being handled by Rangers,” he said.

Apart from the duo, the Nomads, Bullets and Silver are also linked to Wizards’ goalkeeper Brightone Munthali and captain Levison Maganizo.

Silver GS Fred Kalonga confirmed having lost out on Tambe and Namwera, saying: “Actually, we wanted several from Wizards, so we will count on the remaining ones.” n
