Woman found dead in her room
A 29-year-old woman, who had her private parts removed, was on Sunday found dead in her room at a rest house in Lunzu, some 10 kilometres from Blantyre.
Southern Region Police spokesperson Nicholas Gondwa on Tuesday identified the woman as Bernadette Luzanyamba from Makwinja Village, T/A Kaphuka in Dedza.
Gondwa said Luzanyamba was last seen on September 1 around the trading centre. She was the following morning discovered dead with knife stabs in her neck.
Said Gondwa: “She was apparently murdered elsewhere and taken to her room because we noticed blood spots from outside leading to the room.â€
The police, Gondwa said, are yet to identify the deceased’s relations.
He said the woman’s body is being kept at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH).
Meanwhile, a man was on Friday found dead near the magistrate’s court in Karonga. He is suspected to have been killed by unknown people.
Police identified the man as Prince Kumwenda.
