Zembeneko explained that the guest did not provide his particulars even after being pressed by the [motel] receptionist.

He said the suspect did not surrender the room key the following morning.

Zembeneko said motel employees only realised on Monday when they were balancing that one room had remained occupied since Friday, but with only one night paid for.

“And when they noted this shortfall, they went to check if the guest was still in the room. To their surprise, the room remained closed with no sign of life inside,” he said.

Said Zembeneko: “At this point, they forced the door open only to find the body of a naked woman. They immediately reported the matter to Bangwe Police, who took the body to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) for post-mortem.”

He said police are still investigating to determine how the victim, whose identity has not yet been established, found herself in a room that was booked by someone else. n

  1. Something not adding up with the story. This man books a room for a night n no one from the motel wonders and/or asks anything for 3nights? Besides, don’t they clean their rooms every morning?
