New Dawn Boxing Promotions has added extra spice to Friday’s boxing galore by arranging two women supporting bouts.

The bouts will curtain-raise the much-hyped Mike Chazama and Ernest Msoliza fight at Kamuzu Institute for Sports in Lilongwe on Boxing Day.

According to New Dawn’s director Mike Chimaliza, Anisha Bashil will set the tone by taking on Ruth Chisale while Ellen Simwaka will face Lukia Ali.

Both Bashil and Chisale yesterday told The Nation that they have intensified their preparations for the four-round showdown.

“It has been quite some time since boxing fans watched a big women’s bout and I promise them thrills on Friday.

“I appeal to the fans to come in their numbers to watch the emerging Malawi’s Laila Ali,” said Bashil.

She also boasted that Chisale will not stand the heat. On her part, Chisale said she will do the talking in the ring.

“I have been preparing for this bout for over a month and I can’t wait to face Anisha. I will teach her a good lesson,” said Chisale.

In another main supporting bout, little known Robert Kachize is relishing the opportunity of causing a major upset when he takes on Chrispin Moliati.

Commenting on female boxers’ bouts, Chimaliza said: “These are top female boxers in Lilongwe if not in the whole country, as the others are now quiet.

“We want more women and girls to come and see how their fellow ladies do the swinging, jabbing and throwing hooks and upper cuts in the ring. We want this to encourage more girls to join boxing and protect themselves from hazardous behaviour.”
