World Bank through National Aids Commission (NAC) yesterday donated motor vehicles and audio-visual equipment worth K1 billion to the Ministry of Health. The donation, which includes 21 Toyota Land Cruisers, two audiovisual vans, public address equipment, a band set and other communication equipment, seeks to support implementation of voluntary male medical circumcision (VMMC) programmes. NAC board chairperson Paramount Chief Kyungu XXIV, said during the handover that the vehicles will ease logistical challenges in VMMC campaigns. In his remarks, Minister of Health Peter Kumpalume hailed World Bank and NAC for the donation which, he said, will help the fight against HIV through various campaigns. Kumpalume also said the donation through NAC is a sign that donors are rebuilding their trust in how the commission is run.
