“Previously, the school had high absenteeism rate and others dropped out of school because they were learning under trees,”  said Munkhondya.

He also said the enrollment has increased from 400 in 2020 to 526 because the block has created more space.

In an interview, Standard Three learner Martha Ago said the facility has created a conducive learning environnment.

“When we were learning under trees, we were distracted by people and other activities. We are able to concentrate on our lessons now,” she said.

On his part, Ilengo Zone primary education adviser Jonathan Kayira said the facility will improve education standards in the area.

He also commended the organisation for donating 80 desks to the school.

In an interview, World Vision Malawi Chitipa and Karonga districts programme manager Wanangwa Mtonga said they want to complement governmet’s efforts in improving education standards in the district.

The organisation handed over the block last year.
