Xerographics Eight-Aside 16-Overs Cricket Tournament preliminary round wraps up today at Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) in Blantyre where MSC Grey and ISC-2 will meet MSC Blue and MSC Purple respectively.

The match between MSC Grey and MSC Blue will be played for formality’s sake as both sides have already qualified for the quarter-finals from Group A alongside MSC Veterans and Indian Sports Club (ISC)-1.

The other quarter-finalists from the group are MSC Veterans and MSC Blue.

Last Sunday, MSC Blue triumphed 108-101runs over MSC Veterans, who vented their anger on Cricket Academy-2 with a 138-76 runs thrashing.

However, the real battle will be on today in the encounter between ISC-2 and MSC Purple as each side will need to a win at all cost to book a slot in the quarter-finals from Group B. MSC Orange and Cricket Academy-1 made it into the quarter-finals last Sunday.

MSC Orange whacked ISC-2 by 135 runs after they made 168 runs against ISC-2’s 33.

Cricket Academy-1 booked a place in the last eight phase following their 109-79 runs victory over MSC Green.

According to Southern Region Cricket League (SRCL) chairperson Shiraz Zaveri, everything is going on smoothly in the competition that is set for a month-long break after Sunday’s matches for Ramadan.

“We are hoping for a thrilling completion of the event after Ramadan,” he said.
